5 months

We took Evan to his well baby check yesterday and since we went at 6 weeks old and not 8 weeks, his schedule is a bit off...so it was supposed to be his 6 months check. Anyhoo, we have a cute little chunker on our hands! He weighed in at a whopping 19 lbs! 90th percentile for weight and 50th percentile for length and head. The good news is since he isn't 6 months old yet, he didn't have to get any shots. :) But, we have to head back the 1st week in Dec. to get them :( I do like that he got a sticker for being a "smart patient!" We were joking around that the 19 lbs is a bit off considering he has not poo'ed in a week and there is probably a good 2 pounds that needs to get out! augh! I'm not sure what the deal is. Our doctor said to give him an ounce of juice with an ounce of water mixed together....so we are trying prune juice right now. Hopefully that will do the trick. If is hasn't worked in a day or two, we have to call back. Any advice out there????

The prune juice should work!! He's getting big! Don't worry Kasey, Thomas was 18 lbs and 10 oz at his 6 month check and has always been in the 75 percentile for everything! We just have healthy growing boys!!!! Will make a great soccer or football player!!!

Have I told you about Charlie's poo issues? Oh we have poo issues...Charlie is on a laxative! LOL. We tried the prune juice, but he went 12 DAYS!!! Does Evan seem uncomfortable? I can't believe 19 pounds - he's definitely bigger than Charlie!!!

How the heck is he 5 months old already?! :) He's so stinkin cute.

When Porter was constipated as a baby our ped. suggested karo corn syrup, just a tsp or so, in his bottle. Worked like a charm.

What an adorable little guy. How is that old already?! They grow so fast.

Reyna was constipated not too long ago...we ended up having to give her a suppository. It wasn't fun, but it worked. I hope that his issues clear up soon. My mom kept reminding me when Reyna was having issues, "what goes in, must come out." :)

I don't remember if Evan is eating solids yet or not? With Bailey we had to really limit how often she had bananas, and she had to eat prunes/plums/peaches more often. Also too much rice cereal can get them stopped up I think.

I know that to "cure" diarrhea in kids you follow the B.R.A.T. diet (bananas, rice, apples, toast) so those foods are binding. That's the only way I can remember what to do/not do for poop issues!
