Family fun...

Wednesday I headed to St. Louis to catch up and see my family. It was great to be able to do a little shopping with my sister and mom and then head to lunch. Evan loved trying to play catch with Uncle Brad, playing with Grandma and Grandpa, and running away from  Great Grandma's kisses! :) It was a nice relaxing day with family...

Who do you think Evan gets his big grin from??? :)

Loved playing with this ABC talking train set....

Hugs all around...

Rooster

SO glad tomorrow is Friday....hope our little rooster makes you smile! :)

Week 8: 6th grade

6th grade....the final year of Elementary school!  1990-1991....the year of hairspray and tall tall tall bangs! :)

Things I remember from my last year of elementary school...
  • I remember being in trouble a lot this year...I think for talking! :) I remember having to sit in the hallway during indoor recess. We would try to sneak notes to other delinquents who were also sitting in the hall.
  • I remember writing notes to "boyfriends" with the question "Do you like me? Check yes or no"
  • I remember writing dictionary pages as a whole class when we had a sub and our whole class was awful
  • I remember going back to my 1st grade teacher's room to help the student's learn to read. It was even more fun because my brother was in the class.
  • The best part of 6th grade was camp. Each class went on a week long overnight camp. Our cabin was called Wren's Roost. S.P was in our cabin and put a whole through the ceiling!
  • During camp,  L.C. (who was in our cabin) would wake everyone up by yelling "Good morning boys and girl!" at the top of her lungs. She fell off the top bunk and almost cracked her head open on the fireplace.
  • I remember during camp trying to sneak out with KF, SP, and LC to the boy's cabin, which we could see from our window. I think we either chickened out or got caught...not sure which!
  • I remember singing songs during camp time... I think another cabin performed "lollipop" from the movie Stand by Me. I also remember learning archery and our kickball game. Good times...

First day of 6th grade...finally the oldest in the school!

Each year our school had a fair and this was the year my "boyfriend" and I put each other in the "jail"...ha!

I also remember getting my Gameboy this year and being so excited...of course I tried to pull off the "I'm so cool" pose! I think it helped that I was wearing Mickey and friends pajamas! :)

Our pool....loved swimming in this thing...especially making a wave pool and a lazy river by going around and around that thing.

Loved playing softball especially because my dad was the coach. He's on the right and I'm in the back row next to him. I believe I played either center field or shortstop.

Halloween...each year our elementary school allowed people to dress up for Halloween and we had a parade through the school to see all of the different costumes. This year, I think I was a punk rocker. Who knows?! I spray painted my hair and wore black jeans and a bandanna around my neck....sure doesn't look like a punk rocker to me though! ha!

Fair

Tonight we headed to the Boone County Fair and melted. It was SO hot outside. Thankfully we didn't stay super long but had fun seeing the animals, watching people ride the rides, and smelling all of the delicious carnival food. Evan was 2 inches too short for the rides :( but we had fun anyway. It was his first carnival and we had fun taking everything in! :)

Gotta love a petting zoo...

This guy really wanted out!

Pig Races! It was hilarious to watch! And they are off...

Evan didn't know what to think of the alligator!

Love the sights and sounds and colors from the fair!

Almost big enough! :)

5 things I want to remember right now...

  1. the way Evan shakes his head back and forth when he says no, with a great big smirk on his face
  2. the way I felt last night when I couldn't sleep...butterflies in my tummy and excited and nervous, and happy about the possibility of being a family of 4 and the joys that would bring to us.
  3. Today was our 1st IUI in attempt to have a new little brother or sister for Evan. Our doctor said that everything looked great...now we play the waiting game. At least 2 weeks to see if we have two pink lines!
  4. Evan's laughing fit tonight before bed....He kept putting his fingers by my mouth and laughing his head off. He was pulling at my lips and then I would make a noise and he would go into another fit of giggles. He had the biggest grin on his face then decided he wanted to give big ol' open mouth slobbery kisses. He shakes his head back and forth and then leans in for the kill. It's pretty cute.
  5. I want to remember the way Evan snuggles up after he gets up from a nap and the way he lays with Mike and I when he actually sits still for a few moments! :)

soccer weekend...

This weekend was the Show Me Games for soccer and Mike played with some friends. Evan and I decided to go to a few games and since he is still a tad sick, I either held him or had him in the stroller so he didn't drool on toys that him and Kye might have played with together. Hopefully next time we see the Malones, the boys can play! Mike and the team made it to the finals, but unfortunately lost 3-2....they definitely should have won though, but 2nd place for a bunch of old men (ha!) is pretty good. We decided to go to the 2nd game on Saturday evening (they played Friday night, Sat. morning/afternoon, and then had the remaining two games on Sunday). The Powells and Malones came too, Erin and kids were at all of the games! :) Unfortunately about 15 minutes into the game a huge storm came through and it started pouring rain and lightning...so we didn't get to visit with them a lot. :( The had to postpone the game until the next morning because of the lightning... Overall, it was a great weekend and I'm glad Erin and I got to catch up and chat while watching our hubbies play.

Waiting to see if the lightning would stop...it didn't :(

Before heading back to St. Louis we had a great dinner at TGI Fridays with the Malones and Scott. :)

Sick of sick...

What a crazy few weeks it has been with Evan and sicknesses. If I never go to another doctor appointment I will be so thrilled and Evan will be even more thrilled. If I get my smiley, non throwing up, non fever, not irritable baby back I will be the happiest woman on the planet. I just want him to be better. First it was diarrhea for 3 weeks. Then a fever of 105* and a trip to the emergency room. Then it's waiting for him to have a wet diaper. He hasn't had one since yesterday morning. We are still waiting on that. If it doesn't happen by tomorrow morning it's off to the ER again for an IV. Then this morning a rash popped up over his body. On his ears, hands, feet, legs, face...found out that he has hand, foot, and mouth disease. He had to get blood drawn today to check his blood count....he screamed bloody murder and I felt so bad. He now has a bruise on his arm from the needle. This poor kid can't catch a break. It's so sad when the doctor wants to look at his throat (which has enlarged glands and is red with a rash) and he cries and turns to me and puts his head in my shoulder. I wanted him to be able to play with the Malones, Malones, and Powell kids this weekend for the Show Me soccer games (the dads are playing in the over 30 league). But now, it looks like we'll be cooped up in the house with this virus. Hoping he gets over this soon....it's so hard when your baby is sick and you can't make them better...
