Fair night...

What a great summer night at the county fair!

He was so concerned when he heard the rooster!

 Best $5 spent! :)

Alex even woke up to see some of the animals :)

Evan rode his first roller coaster and absolutely loved it (except for 1 sharp corner). He was so cute sitting there even though you couldn't hardly see his face!

We were there for almost 3 hours and both boys were champs considering it was SO hot and sticky. Definitely a fun evening!

love

I love the moment where they are slighly awake drifting off to dreamland....xoxo

naptime...

is not my favorite lately...
E has finally realized that if he gets up from his bed, then it prolongs him from napping. Thursday was the first time he fought sleeping. For 2 hours every time he got up, I went in and put him back in bed. This happened over 75 times. I am so thankful Alex was sleeping for most of this. Looking back, a couple of instances were pretty funny, even though it was so annoying at the time. I went to the bathroom, E got out of bed, was playing with the sound machine and turned on the radio. He then started dancing :) I went in and he was still dancing...silly boy! Another time I was getting Alex up and was moving him to the living room and I looked through the video monitor and saw particles flying through the air. I had no idea what it could have been....so I put Alex in the swing and went in and saw Evan covered in baby powder. It was all over him, the rocking chair, the floor. Definitely not my favorite moment and him not falling asleep at all. I was so annoyed! And then of course, when Mike put him to bed that night, he went down with no problems and didn't get out of bed once. (No nap= tired boy!)  I'm hoping this gets easier and not harder! The below video is him crying because he was fighting sleep, I had taken his blanket, woody, and Mickey out (because he kept throwing them out and then trying to get out to get them). Definitely not a dull moment around our house lately!

Baby powder everywhere...

Friday Five

1. The second time around I am much more relaxed about having a newborn and I love it. Mike and I are not as stressed out about having a little one and are just enjoying Alex and how much he completes our family.

 2. Evan has definitely grown into his "2's" :) He is hilarious and challenging all in one. More on our bedtime/naptime fiasco in another post...He definitely puts a smile on our face most of the time and Mike and I are learning how to parent a 2 year old...a very stubborn 2 year old! ;)

3. It seems I blink and this guy gets bigger and longer every day. Seriously...how can he be 2.5 months already!

 4. I got to take senior pictures for a dear friend's daughter and we had such a great day! She is gorgeous!    (I can't believe she is a senior this year...I met her when she was in 6th grade!)

5. I will post more pics from our Fair night soon too...we had a great time and Evan even rode his first roller coaster and pony. :)

Summertime

This week's challenge is shadows and summertime over at ISO. This was a hard one for me. There are so many things I love about summer. Care free days, swimming, vacations, ice cream, etc. but last night after we got done with the County Fair, this shot said summer to me. It only comes once at the end of July for a week and is always a great time. Blue skies, Ferris wheel, kiddie rides and a hot summer night....

Week 2: Shadows

This week's challenge at ISO is shadows.

My entry was from the sun starting to go down tonight. I was walking into Target, so it's not the best quality because it was taken with my phone, but I love how the clouds are casting a shadow against the sun.

Head over to ISO to join in!

summer lovin'

Can you believe that it is almost the end of July?!? Where does the time go??

We've been busy working on our bucket list

Fingerpainting...

 Library trips...

 Making personal pizzas...

A watching E :)

 Swimming...

Making cookies...found a nutella cookie recipe. Since E is allergic to eggs, we substituted a banana for the egg. Tasted great!

What are you going to be up to these last few weeks of summer??/

Growing Up

Tuesday during nap time, Evan decided to climb out of his crib. I was putting Alex down (Evan had been in his crib for about 15 minutes) and I hear a thud and the loudest wail I've ever heard. I rush in and see Evan sitting in the middle of his floor with the biggest crocodile tears. He was crying, saying ouch, and wanting a hug from his momma. I pick him up and start rocking him. He was repeating "on top" over and over...Once he calmed down, I explained that we don't climb on top because he could get hurt. I felt bad...but after some hugs and kisses and rocking, he went down for his nap. I texted Mike and told him we needed to take the side of his crib off for bedtime that night. He only tried getting out three times that night (because of his stuffed animals and blanket that he threw out).  Since then, he's been going down great. For nap time the next day, it took 2.5 hours, but he only tried to get out once because he threw his blanket out. Then 30 minutes. We are both excited that he isn't trying to climb out...and hopefully will stay this way. We did take him to get his leg/ankle checked out on Thursday because he started limping/walking on his tiptoe. Thankfully, everything was okay and nothing was broken from his fall.

Thursday update

Since it's been way too hot to go outside, we've been mostly hanging out inside, playing cars, trains, reading books, watching movies, and trying to be creative with a newborn and 2 year old! Here's some random pics of our past few days. :)

Cheering on the Women's World Cup, who unfortunately lost in penalty kicks to Japan. :(  I do want to mention that in college, when our team (FIU) played University of Florida, I got to defend against Abby Wambach :) And yes, she's as tough and strong as she seems! :)

Someone thinks he can swing in the baby swing ;)

 Getting stronger every day!

Seriously...can not get enough of his smiles! He smiles with his whole face!

 LOVE these two!

We've also been crossing stuff off of our summer bucket list! We've made personal pizzas, been to the library, E has slept in a big boy bed (more on that to come!) and finger painted. Happy Thursday everyone!
