  • Excerpts from a Cat's Daily Diary. ..
Day 983 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Bastards. There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage. Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs. I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now................

This is the week....

I am so excited that this is the week that we finally get to go to the doctor. Wednesday is our 1st appointment and Mike and I are both SO excited and happy! I'll definitely keep you all updated on how it goes!

Lazy weekend....

We had a great relaxing weekend. Mike had to work the whole weekend, but it was fun going to church with him this morning. Saturday after my class I went with Cortney and Matt (and baby Nate) to a weenie roast that one of our friends and her family had. We had a great time hanging out, making smores and enjoying the great weather we had this weekend. Today a couple of my students last year played in a football game, so I went to go see them. They did a great job! It was a very relaxing weekend....now I'm off to grade papers and get ready for the upcoming week. I hope you had a great weekend too!

ZZZZzzzzz.....

I am SO tired! Seriously. I yawn all day long and take a nap right when I get home. I didn't think I could be this tired. The good news is that I don't have morning sickness and I hope that stays away! Our first appointment is Oct. 1st! I hope it gets here soon!

Bday dinner

Yesterday Mike and I were able to meet two of his co-workers, along with their moms, for dinner. We went to Osaka, a Japanese steakhouse and it was delicious! We had such a great time watching our food cook. The best part was watching our onions cook! Look at how high that fire is! craziness! Happy Birthday JP!!!

Monday...

It has been 1 week since we've found out we are going to have a baby and I've been on cloud 9 ever since then...seriously. I haven't been angry or mad at anything...even towards my students for their chattiness. Today was a great day back to work and I am super excited that it is a short week. Wednesday I have a math meeting in the morning and Thursday is an early release day so we can score their writing prompts. Friday is no school for kids since it is a teacher work day so we can score their reading assessments. I LOVE weeks like these.... :) Mike is off work tonight so we are getting ready for the Heroes premiere...finally!!!! While waiting, Jack decided he wanted to play tug of war so here is one of the few shots I got. Hope your week is starting off well! Happy Fall!

Some photos

This little Mizzou onesie is too cute! On the front it says, Beware of Tigers and on the back by the butt, it says end zone! I love it!

Mike and I still need to take a picture with us in it together...hopefully soon!

It stills does not seem possible that we are pregnant! We are so excited and still on cloud 9. Finally after all these years, are dreams are coming true. We saw our doctor in the grocery store after work today and he was so excited for us and came up to give me a great big hug and to shake Mike's hand. It was very sweet. We go in for our 1st appointment on October 1st and I wish it would get here quickly! We are so blessed...

Video

Telling family

Mike and I had such a great time letting our family know. We wish we could have told everyone in person. It was the best feeling to see their joy and excitement for us. I am glad we made the slideshow to send to family that was out of town. I know they are all happy for us too! It was hilarious to see my mom and Grandma get so excited. My brother took some video, so I need to try and get that posted, but for now here are some pictures. I had told my dad on Thursday night before he left for hunting and I told my sister earlier in the week. I hate keeping secrets! I am so bad at it. When we were coming into town Friday afternoon we picked up my brother from a friend's house and I just had to tell him. He was so excited and happy! He even had a few tears in his eyes...awww! We are so blessed with great friends and family. Sorry some of the pics are blurry and dark...they both guessed before I actually told them so everything just went so fast! It was a great way to tell them!

Monday Sept. 15th 2008

A day I will NEVER forget. I woke up and took a pregnancy test. It was day 28 of my cycle. Things just felt different. I watched as 2 pink lines appeared on the stick and seriously had the goofiest grin on my face. Mike had to work late on Sunday night, so he was very tired. I hopped back in bed to wake him up and I said, "Honey...I think we are pregnant!" He said "what?!" I said "Well...a few days ago I took a test and there was only 1 line, and now there are two lines!" We both agreed to wait until we were 100% sure just because we've been waiting forever to share this great news. It was SO hard to keep this a secret all day Monday. Seriously. I wanted to let people know and it was hard to wait. :) I went to get a blood test after school on Monday and Monday night was the longest night ever. Mike was at work and Katie (the nurse) said she was going to call once she got the results. Well, 8:30 passes and I'm thinking there is no way she will call. And finally at 8:45 she calls and says "I thought you'd want to know the results." I am waiting quietly, my heart pounding in my chest. She says "Congrats! You're pregnant!" I think I said "shut up" to her because I couldn't believe it. I was in shock. She said "I will not shut up because you are going to have a baby!" She was so excited for us! Katie told me that the baby will be due around the end of May or beginning of June. Ahhh...a summer baby, right at the end of school....God is SO good and perfect with his timing. He knew our plan all along :) We are having a baby!!!!

Whew.............

It's been a very long week. I procrastinated ALL week on my paper for my Master's class and had to write 4 pages tonight. I decided I couldn't write at home, because I'd just get distracted, so I headed over to Starbucks and knocked it out in about an hour and a half. I have to proofread it before bed, but it will be done before class tomorrow morning! :) School was very busy and I'm very glad that its the weekend. We will probably have lots of rain because of Hurricane Ike's path, but hopefully it can wait a few days so I can enjoy the weekend. I hope you have a great weekend....

"Do you believe in me?"

Where were you?

  • I got this at It's My Life and thought it was interesting....Where were you???
  • Space Shuttle Challenger Disaster - January 28, 1986
I was in the third grade and we were watching this at school on the tv. We couldn't believe it and really at the time didn't understand it. We watched the explosion over and over again on our school TV before the teachers realized that we were still there watching too, and they turned it off.
  • The Oklahoma City Bombing - April 19, 1995
I was a sophomore in high school and remember coming home from school and seeing the televisions replay this over and over. This is the image I remember the most from this tragedy....click here. I felt really sad for everyone involved, but mostly the babies and their parents.
  • Princess Diana's Death - 31 August 1997
I was a freshman in college at Florida International and we were on our first away trip for soccer. We were in the hotel lobby in Orlando getting ready to go to practice before the game the next day. I was in shock. Then...5 days later Mother Theresa passed away. I kept thinking...who is next? Usually bad things happen in threes....
  • Attack on the Twin Towers - 11 September 2001
I was in a microeconomics class at FIU and remember someone coming in late saying that New York was hit. We didn't understand what she was trying to tell us....she mentioned planes flying into buildings and at the time that was incomprehensible thought. Our class was dismissed and I headed over to the training room (since it was closer than my dorm room) and we watched as the second plane hit the tower. We were in shock. We couldn't believe it. No one could. I was concerned about my New York roomies who might have had families there, so I hightailed it back to our room and they were trying to use their cell phones to call but the cell tower was hit. They called using my phone and found out that everyone they knew was okay. One girl on the team, her dad had to go into a bomb shelter at work, and ended up walking across the bridge, but he was okay. It was a very surreal moment....We will Never forget!
  • Space Shuttle Columbia Disaster - February 1, 2003
I know for sure that I was at work teaching because it was my first year. I really didn't hear too much about it until I got home but felt very sad for the families.
  • 7th Harry Potter Book is Released - 21 July 2007
I really wanted to go stand in line to get the book, but because we had family in town I didn't. I decided to go to Target in the morning. I literally couldn't. put. it. down. It was amazing! So, tell me, where were you when all this stuff happened?

I got nothin'

  • Seriously...I have nothing new to write about. Same 'ol...same 'ol. I've been busy grading papers, planning, completing my Master's homework and readings, and hanging out with Mike when he is off work. Nothing fun and exciting, just been busy living life.
  • 5 thoughts...
  1. I am excited that the fall weather is starting again. I love wearing jeans and sweatshirts and not feeling so hot! :)
  2. I am glad that I can start Christmas shopping soon. woohoo!!
  3. I am happy because football has started back up. Go Mizzou! My college football team (FIU) stinks, so I'm going to root for my hometown football team! ha! :)
  4. I am blessed that Mike's grandma is doing better and is off the ventilator.
  5. I am praying that our IUI worked this month....1 more week to wait!

What have you been thinking about recently????

Waiting game...

It feels like all I do is wait....we have 1 week down and about 1 to go. Hopefully this next week will go fast and we'll see if the IUI worked this time. I hope so!!!

First Home Game

There's nothing better than little boys playing a game of football! Love it! :)
The sea of Black and Gold!
There's just something not right about wearing a tiger tail....only in Columbia!
The trail of cars parked for the game... Today was the first Mizzou football game and I was able to head over after my first Master's class today. I was able to say hello to some friends who were tailgating and also to see Mike who was working at one of the gates. Go MU!!!
