Catch up...

We had a busy but great weekend with friends. Saturday I had a baby shower for a great friend, Jesse. It was at a little restaurant here in town called Wine Cellar and Bistro. It was awesome. She is having a little boy and we had a fun time "deciding" what his name would be and occupation was when he was older. It was a riot! I think the "winning" name and job was Leroy and he was going to be a male model! too funny! Here are some pics from that day...I also had an Arbonne party for some teachers at school and we had a great time that afternoon. They got some great products and some holiday ideas! :) After the party we headed over the the Morrisons for game night with their friend Wendy and also the Swinigans. We brought along Jack....I'll get back to him in a minute. Heather and Ryan had some yummy appetizers (Harry and David dip and candy! yum!). We hung out and played Apples to Apples and Loaded Questions. We had such a good time relaxing and catching up. We headed back this morning partly because Savannah is sick :( and we knew she needed to rest and also because I had a soccer game and papers to grade and also because we had Jack with us. He did not sleep well last night and kept whining to go out. So we had to take him out around 4 am and then again around 6:30 am. I know those of you who have kids, this is normal getting up, but it's not normal for us yet! :) On the way back, we were driving on Hwy 70 (and usually it is an hour and 15-25 min. drive)...well, today there was an accident. :( They shut the highway down for a good 45 minutes because it took us almost 2.5 hours to get back. Apparently there was 2 semi's in an accident (there could have been more cars...we're not really sure but there was a helicopter that took someone away). We were pretty close to the accident and the police and fire trucks decided that cars would be able to fit through but not the big 'ol semis in front of us. They pulled over...it was like the parting of the red semi's. Crazy! They had to shut down the highway because there was gas all over the highways. Here are a few pics from us driving through the "sea of semis" We finally made it home! Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the beautiful weekend! Hope everyone had a SAFE, relaxing weekend!

5 years

WOW! It is amazing what 5 years of NOT playing soccer can do to you after playing your whole life! Between the last time I played soccer and tonight I have had a total of 5 surgeries. Yeah....tell me about it. :) I have had 1 knee, 2 lower leg, 1 back surgery and 1 laproscopic(all in the last 4 years!)....let's just say I am glad I am walking! I actually played and it felt good! I can't even tell you exactly when the last time I played outdoor soccer way. CRAZY! I was playing with a bunch of college girls....and let's just say, that I was glad my shoes still fit and I could run somewhat up and down the field. Most of the girls were pretty good, but the good news is that I was better than most of them! yeah! Other than being out shape...I thought I did pretty well. At least I hope so....I hope I didn't make an ass out of myself, because the other thing I found out was that most of the girls on this team are in the vet. med. program where my father-in-law works and they know him...so I HOPE I didn't embarrass myself too much! I did give a nice assist to someone who scored...so hopefully playing will help me get back into shape! The last time I played competitively was in college 5 years ago!!! WOW! I can't believe how fast the time goes!

Obsessed

I admit....I love when the new shows start. Premiere Week. I love it! Right now I am obsessed with Grey's anatomy. Love it. I watched the first 2 seasons and I am obsessed. We downloaded season 3 onto our I-pod because I can't stand just watching 1 week then waiting 1 week. So for this past season we didn't watch....I know, I know...what were we thinking? But...I like watching 4-6 in a row. Mike and I watched 4 episodes last night and we are going to try and get A LOT more done tonight since the season premiere starts on Thurs. There were a lot of episodes in season 3, so we might have to tape the season premiere until we can get caught up. What other shows are YOU obsessed with? I would love to hear that I am not the only crazy one! ha! :)

Jack Boy

It's been awhile since I've updated about Jack...he is doing well. We almost got another playmate for him a couple of weeks ago. There was a yellow lab who was about to be euthanized and someone from Mike's work asked if we'd be interested in him. Mike's co-workers friend saved the puppy. He is about 4-5 months old...and guess what his name is....JACK! How funny is that! We seriously considered getting him...except he has diabetes. We talked to our vet and he would have to have shots every 12 hours. Something that we just aren't/weren't ready to do....so we had to sadfully decline. The lady who rescued him still has Jack2...and I think, still looking for a family. So hopefully soon, we'll get a playmate for Jack. :)

Decorations....

just some fun classroom decorations.... :) "spidey" nicknamed by my kiddos The bulletin board from the first few weeks of school outside our class. The students names are on each paw and they got to bring in a picture of their pet. :)

Come on...you know you're jealous...

You know you're jealous because when we go to Walmart we get to hear a live band. Yes...that's what I said....a LIVE band playing in the middle of Walmart. Hello?!!??? We don't live in small town USA. We go to pick up dog food what do we get....entertainment....nice. The singer was from Cleveland, OH and was 20 years old and said she was glad to be in Columbia.
Rock on Walmart...rock on!

Here are some other fun pictures from their wedding!

My little sister got married! Congrats to Kelli and Kris on their 1 year anniversary!!!
Here is the matron of honor speech I wrote for them....it still brings tears to my eyes! :)
Love you guys!
To my little sister on her wedding day.
Kelli has always been my best friend and obviously you want only the best for your friends. And in Kris, I am delighted to say, she has found it. How do I know that? Well, we shared the same home; the same experiences and we shared our dreams. Today I know is a dream come true for Kelli. I, for one, am thrilled for her because nobody deserves her happiness more. Today is the first day of her married life and I cannot help remembering our childhood and the games we played together. I am thinking of our first dolls and playing house, our bikes and playing school with our brother, who we labeled as the bad student of our class. Sorry about that Brad! I am thinking of our family soccer trips, getting mad over who was wearing whose clothes and giggling all night until Dad told us to be quiet! Today I am thinking of my sweet, kind, little sister who has always been there for me when I needed her. That is not to say that she was always sweet and kind. There were times that we disagreed. There were times when we argued. But during those times, I was never sorry she was my sister. Although, I do have to admit, there were probably plenty of times when she was embarrassed by me. But looking back…we were two sisters who shared both good times and bad times, loved our family, and each other. I am delighted that Kelli has found in Kris, someone who needs her as much as she needs him. Kris is a wonderful generous guy and will make a very special brother-in-law as well as a husband towards Kelli. He too has a warm and welcoming family and I am so glad that family occasions in the future will be even bigger and better. What do I wish for my sister on her wedding day? I wish that she and Kris would always love each other as much as they do today. I wish that their home would be a warm and welcoming one. I wish that she and Kris would always be best friends as well as husband and wife. I wish they will always trust and care and be there for each other. I know these will come true because I always get what I wish for…Kelli can attest to that. So here's to my little sister and her groom. I hope that in the years to come we celebrate their anniversaries, if not in the same style, at least with the same enthusiasm and love that is in this room. May God bless you both today and always. Here’s to the bride and groom. Cheers!

MIZ...

...ZOU!!!
Today was the first Missouri home game vs. Western Michigan. Mike had to work...like he does for all the home games and I went with 2 other police officers wives, Melanie and Mandy and Mandy's friend, Abby. We had a great time! We went to eat at Booches beforehand and then to the game. It was PERFECT football weather....a little chilly but the sunshine was out! Here are some pics from the game. Enjoy! Tomorrow...off to the Cardinals game! yeah!

Time and Thoughts for Thursday

I can't even tell you where the time goes during the week! I feel completely rushed all week and never have a second to actually sit down and type out something meaningful or even actually semi-decent. School has been going well...my students are behaving which is always a plus but there is DRAMA...all the time it feels like. Sometimes it feels like I'm back in high school with all of that crap. Mike has been working hard as well and it seems like we never actually get any 1 on 1 time during the week. I am either grading papers or I have a meeting late or I have an arbonne function. Tonight he is working the twilight festival and that is from 6-11 pm so when he gets home I'll be sleeping. Last night we did make it a "date night" and went to go see Superbad....too funny! There were some...let's make that....ALOT of inappropriate moments but overall it was funny! How do you manage your time???? With jobs, blogging, extra things, kids, families, fun???? I feel on the go... all. the. time. DO you have a certain time each day you try to blog, talk on the phone, dinner....Let me hear your thoughts!!!!!
