Week 14: 12th grade

1996-1997. SENIORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was one of the best years of my life. Too many great memories with friends, traveling with soccer, and enjoying the last year of high school. This is going to be a long post, but I wanted to share...enjoy!

My 1st car, the big brown machine was retired and I had a fun, Suzuki Sidekick for my senior year. I loved it! The second picture is Krista and I during the senior parade. :)

My last season of basketball was a pretty good season! We actually won 9 games! :) My favorite memory though is scoring the last shot to win our 1st ever district game. I hit a three pointer with 5 seconds left to win the game! It was the best feeling in the world and we had a huge monkey pile once the buzzer sounded. Even though we lost the next game in the post season, that is something that I will never forget.

My last soccer season was not one of my better seasons. I was plagued by injuries, including multiple ankle sprains and pneumonia. I did score 1 goal this season, We were 16-7-1 and I made 1st team All Conference and also played in the Senior/High School All Star game. One of our favorite parts of the soccer team is "kidnapping" the freshman who make the team. We head over to their house early one morning, wake them up, dress them in whatever we choose (the uglier the better) and then head to breakfast! They have to wear that outfit all day at school. :)

My club team, JB Marine, had a wonderful year too! We went to San Diego, CA over Thanksgiving to play in the San Diego Surf Cup. We had a blast and it was absolutely gorgeous there! We also won Regionals that year and that meant we were headed to NATIONALS!!! We placed 3rd...which meant, in the entire Nation, our soccer team was the 3rd best! We were pretty excited to have made it that far. This group of girls are some of my best friends and growing up and playing soccer of them brings back a ton of wonderful memories. I'm so grateful for my parents for all of the hours of traveling and paying for trips for my brother, sister and I over the years.

Signing my Letter of Intention was one of the most rewarding days my senior year. My parents and sister (who was excited to get out of class) came down, as well as my soccer coach, and I signed my letter on intent to head to Florida International University. I was headed to Miami, FL on a full-ride soccer scholarship! They paid for my room, board, books, and tuition. I also got $200 a month for food. :) I was SO happy that all of my hard work paid off and I didn't have to have student loans. Hard work does pay off!

Senior year awards night, student id cards, and grades! (apparently, pre-calculus wasn't my favorite!)

...and never forget that awesome radio cooler that your mom brought for your signing. I ran into her in the Summit "commons" and was once again reminded that I was forever one of your biggest Fans. :) Loved this post.

a full ride - wow! Maybe I should look into sports for my own children a little harder. . .
