Perfect Day...

Saturday was one of the best days I've had in a long time. Mike and I decided to head to St. Louis for the day to take Evan to the St. Louis Zoo for his 1st zoo trip and visit my family. We got to the zoo at 9 am and when we left at 11:30, the place was packed and parking was a nightmare. I'm so glad we visited when we did! It was gorgeous again...slight breeze, temps in the 70's, and not a cloud in the sky. My mom and dad also joined us at the Zoo and we had a stress free morning and lots of fun! It was so fun watching Evan take everything in. He loved the birdcage with the birds and kept pointing and saying "bird", "bird", "bird". When we visited the monkeys, (which he loves) he kept making monkey noises. It was too cute!

Since it was so nice outside, the animals were out and about and that made it easy to see them!

The Birdcage, which St. Louis purchased from the 1904 World's Fair. Evan was in heaven here! Lots of birds!!!

This next picture speaks a 1,000 words! We went to visit the penguins and puffins and it was chilly in there! Evan liked watching the penguins waddle, jump in and swim....until they splashed him and my dad! He got his pouty face and started crying these big ol' tears! In his defense, it was cold and I'm sure surprised the heck out of him!!!! Mike's face is pretty priceless too. :) When we were leaving Grandma and Grandpa bought him a stuffed penguin :) (Mommy and Daddy got him a monkey too!) So spoiled!

We had such a great morning!

After leaving the Zoo and hanging out at my parent's house, we watched the Mizzou Tigers beat the Illini (woohoo!), Evan took a 2.5 hour nap, and we ate some delicious bar-be-que!

Evan gave hugs to Uncle Brad and kisses to Aunt Kelli

We got back to Columbia around 5:30, ate Mickey D's and had the entire playplace to ourselves. Evan and Mike had fun playing and climbing. It was the perfect end to the perfect day!
