Thankful 11.11.10

Today I am thankful for my friends and blog friends. :) I love that they are there if I need parenting advice or great ideas on things to do with Evan. Today I do want some input...it's also Thursday so I had a few thoughts I'd like to write and I'd like your input as well!

The two topics are eating and sleeping...at the 1.5 year stage!

Eating: I want to know how much your kids eat/ate at this age. I feel like Evan eats a ton, but I have nothing to compare it to. For instance, at breakfast he eats an entire bowl of oatmeal and a banana. For lunch he eats a full peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a ton of fruit, and some animal crackers. For dinner he can eat 2 full pieces of pizza, veggies, and fruit. Plus 2 snacks a day! Is this normal???  I have no idea if this is too much, etc? He's 24 lbs. and has slowly gained weight the past 6 months...He was about 20 lbs. at his 1 year appt.

Another thing is sleeping. I'm so thankful that he is such a good sleeper. He normally goes to sleep around 6:30 and sleeps until 6:30-6:45 and sometimes even 7 am! He also takes a 1.5-3 hour nap a day...usually around 10:30 or 11 he goes down. Anyway, I'd love to hear what your kids did/do at this age with eating and sleeping. I know he's getting enough sleep, but is it too much???

Thanks! :)

First of all - I don't think a 1 year old can get too much sleep. If he wasn't tired, he wouldn't sleep. Norah used to sleep like that and has always been a great sleeper!! I always thought she spoiled me - Lucy and Daphne are good sleepers, too, just not like Norah. Enjoy it - because having 2 is busy. You need to rest while you have only 1 who is a great sleeper!!
Second - I wouldn't worry about his eating too much either. Very few kids have trouble cutting themselves off. If you are feeding him mostly healthy food - then I wouldn't worry about it. If he is eating and it is all junk - that would be different. He's a growing boy!! Daphne is a horrible eater and barely weighs 20 pounds at almost 2. It totally stresses me out. I would much rather she eat what seems like a lot, than not enough!! Relax and enjoy him just how he is!!

I agree with Heather - I don't think he can eat or sleep too much. He's doing great, and so are you! :)

Sounds about like Brady so far! Brady is a much bigger eater than Lukas was! And sleeping about the same as Lukas. Both slept about 12 hours at night and a 2-3 hour nap. :)
