Week 12: 10th grade

Sophomore year. 1994-1995. Loved this year...it was all about sports (again) and getting my driver's license and my 1st CAR!

Our basketball season was not so great. Since we were playing varsity teams for the first time since our school was so new (and we only had freshman-juniors) I don't think we did too terrible. We only won 4 games....we lost 22. Not great but at least we had fun. I loved playing with the girls on the team and we always had a great time during practice and traveling to and from games.
(I am in the back row, third from the left)

This series of pictures was in the yearbook and it is on my and my teammate Shalonda. We always would play against each other, one on one, and try to beat each other. It was always a great time and it definitely made us better point guards!

Our soccer team was awesome! We were ranked 9th in the St. Louis area (and that's without having seniors!) We were 15-1-7 and lost to Oakville in districts. I played sweeper again (last defender) and managed to score 5 goals and have 8 assists! I was named 1st team All-Conference, 1st team All-South, Honorable Mention All-Metro, and Honorable Mention All-Eastern district.

 During practice...
Yeah...did I mention that we TP'd our coaches house?!!!  It was awesome...we thought we were so slick...of course we weren't but we definitely had fun. We drove around his neighborhood "staking" the place out, waiting until we were sure him and his wife and their 4 little kids were sleeping. I know we were definitely loud....and got even louder when Coach walked outside! Ha!

Ahhh...great times and great memories!

This was the last year that I played softball. I loved it but just didn't have time anymore to play three sports during high school as well as my travel soccer team and keeping my grades up. We won 4 games and lost 15, but since most of the girls were also on the soccer and basketball team, we always had fun!

This year I also played in Powder Puff football game. The gals played football and the guys were cheerleaders! It was hilarious! (I am third from the left). I believe we won too! I also participated in National Honors Society and did Feed my People, worked at the Special Olympics for basketball and soccer and did a walk-a-thon. I was also a Peer Mentor again and loved it!

First car...an Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. My dad and I were out of town for one of my club team (J.B. Marine) soccer tournaments. I think we were in Florida...not sure...I'll have to ask my dad. But we came home and my CAR was in the driveway! My mom got a great deal on this beauty ;) I remember that the ceiling fabric would flap open because there were some air holes and the radio was an old school push button radio. It was awesome! We could fit three in the front seat and 3-5 in the back! Before I actually had my license, my mom and dad would let me drive around our neighborhood by myself and over to my friend, Rob'n's, house which was the next street over. I got my driver's license at the end of the school year, May 21st, and flunked the first time. I couldn't parallel park to save my life and I think I ran a stop sign! oops! I took it again on the 25th and this time I had a little old lady as my instructor and did everything perfect...except for parallel parking. I hit the cone but I don't think she felt it or saw me do it. So...I passed with a 100%! ha! On the way home from getting my license, I was driving my mom and sister and stopped at a yellow light. I didn't think I was going to be able to make it through without it turning red...well, the next thing I know the car behind us hit us! I guess he thought that I was going to go through the yellow and was gunning it to get through too....so we pulled over and I'm bawling! I just got my license and got in my first accident in my "new" car. Of course there was no damage to the brown beauty, but I was so scared. Thank goodness it wasn't my fault and everyone was okay, but I did learn my lesson to make sure to always go through a yellow light! ;) (kiddin'!)

I had another busy, involved year!

Love my bro and sis! I was also super excited to get a Falcon blanket for Christmas (even thought it was the Atlanta Falcons emblem)...our school was the Falcons and it looked the same! :)
