saying goodbye...

My Aunt was an amazing wife, sister, mother, aunt, and friend to many, many people. It was an honor to be her god daughter. She was so caring, helpful, and wanted everyone to shine. It was a sad weekend and I know she is in a better place, but it still hurts. I miss her. Everyone will miss her....

The weekend was very busy and I am so bummed that we didn't get a chance to head over to the Morrisons to hang out with them. We were going to go after Evan's 2nd nap...well, he decided not to nap. That should have been my first clue that he wasn't feeling well and starting to get sick. We weren't going to have enough time to head up there (around 4ish) and really hang out because I had to be back to go to the wake, which was at 6:30. I am still sad about that :( We really wanted to catch up and see them, but it wasn't the best weekend...

Saturday we had to get ready for the service at Chaminade Church as well as the Celebration of Life later that night. Evan decided to scream and fuss and have a fever, so it was off to urgent care about an hour and a half before the memorial mass was to start. I was freaking out because I was one of the readers during the service and was worried that I wouldn't have enough time to get there. Ended up working fine time wise. Evan didn't have an ear infection, but did have a really red sore throat. Thank goodness it wasn't strep. Aunt Barbara's service was beautiful and was such a great testimony to her life. Many of her friends from Texas drove up, as well as some of her cancer survivor friends. I am amazed at how strong my cousin and my Uncle Mark are...they are inspiring.

We ended the day with her celebration of life party that she wanted. Her favorite time is our Christmas Eve family get together. Last Christmas the number of people was 86. She loved that everyone was able to get together, catch up, watch the kids run crazy...just complete chaos. :) So...she wanted something like that to celebrate her! Matthew and Mark did a great job and had it catered with great food, a Ted Drewes Ice Cream Bar, and a 1000+ picture slide show of her life. It was amazing to see her through the years, see her family and friends through the years and see her so so very happy.

We are going to miss her so much....she was a fighter and had battled through having cancer two other times...this third time won. She is such a beautiful person and such an inspiration to everyone who knew her. We love you Aunt Barbara and will miss you so much. Saying goodbye is hard, so I'll say until we meet again.... xoxox

I love this last picture...it is of my mom and her siblings with Barb's friends from Texas....
