Where were you?

  • I got this at It's My Life and thought it was interesting....Where were you???
  • Space Shuttle Challenger Disaster - January 28, 1986
I was in the third grade and we were watching this at school on the tv. We couldn't believe it and really at the time didn't understand it. We watched the explosion over and over again on our school TV before the teachers realized that we were still there watching too, and they turned it off.
  • The Oklahoma City Bombing - April 19, 1995
I was a sophomore in high school and remember coming home from school and seeing the televisions replay this over and over. This is the image I remember the most from this tragedy....click here. I felt really sad for everyone involved, but mostly the babies and their parents.
  • Princess Diana's Death - 31 August 1997
I was a freshman in college at Florida International and we were on our first away trip for soccer. We were in the hotel lobby in Orlando getting ready to go to practice before the game the next day. I was in shock. Then...5 days later Mother Theresa passed away. I kept thinking...who is next? Usually bad things happen in threes....
  • Attack on the Twin Towers - 11 September 2001
I was in a microeconomics class at FIU and remember someone coming in late saying that New York was hit. We didn't understand what she was trying to tell us....she mentioned planes flying into buildings and at the time that was incomprehensible thought. Our class was dismissed and I headed over to the training room (since it was closer than my dorm room) and we watched as the second plane hit the tower. We were in shock. We couldn't believe it. No one could. I was concerned about my New York roomies who might have had families there, so I hightailed it back to our room and they were trying to use their cell phones to call but the cell tower was hit. They called using my phone and found out that everyone they knew was okay. One girl on the team, her dad had to go into a bomb shelter at work, and ended up walking across the bridge, but he was okay. It was a very surreal moment....We will Never forget!
  • Space Shuttle Columbia Disaster - February 1, 2003
I know for sure that I was at work teaching because it was my first year. I really didn't hear too much about it until I got home but felt very sad for the families.
  • 7th Harry Potter Book is Released - 21 July 2007
I really wanted to go stand in line to get the book, but because we had family in town I didn't. I decided to go to Target in the morning. I literally couldn't. put. it. down. It was amazing! So, tell me, where were you when all this stuff happened?

i think it's crazy how when things like this happen you totally remember where you were, what you were doing...

like princess diana - i was in the twin cities school shopping before my junior year. my stepmom and i just sat on the floor looking at the tv in total shock.

twin towers - i was at home, sleeping before having to leave for a college class. my stepmom woke me up and said i had to come see what was happening. i didn't go to classes that day. i stayed home and watched the news and horror unfold all day.

crazy. sorry for the novel.

Are you sure you were in 3rd grade for the challenger disaster?? Cuz I was in the 4th grade and I know I'm much more an old lady than you!!
For instance... the OC bombing was after I was out of highschool... and you were a sophmore; that's more like it!!

Anyway, I think I'll steal this for my blog too! Crazy to think back to that stuff!

I'm so glad you did the meme! I'm getting a kick out of seeing what everyone remembers.
