Sightseeing

We are enjoying our time doing a little bit of sightseeing. There isn't a whole lot to do in Clarksville (we are about 10 miles outside of the small city) and it's about 34 miles to Hannibal, which has a little more to do. But, the point of our vacation was to relax! We arrived Saturday and were checking in when a HUGE storm hit. Lots of lightning and rain. We got soaked as we ran into our place. Eventually the rain stopped and we unpacked , so we decided to see what the Tivoeli Hills had to offer. The place is gorgeous! Lots of land and they have a lake with canoes and you can rent fishing poles to fish. They also have a huge swimming area with 3 different types of pools. They have a winery and bistro, tennis courts, sand volleyball, tons of playgrounds, putt-putt golf and a driving range, a campground on site and a whole game area where you can play basketball, video games, bingo, etc. We walked around the entire place and were just in awe. We decided to eat lunch at the bistro and it was delicious. They had a live band playing and as we were eating we were overlooking the rolling hills of Missouri. Because it was still raining a little, we ended up playing a round of scrabble that night, which I won and watching Better Off Dead that night, because Ryan and Heather were appalled that I had never seen it! :) Yesterday we headed off to the pool for a few hours and headed into Clarksville for some great lunch at a local place and we saw the devastation they had from the flooding awhile back. They still have sandbags up and some of the shops are closed because water destroyed the inside. After lunch we headed up to Hannibal to drive around and see what we wanted to do. We toured Mark Twain's boyhood home on Hill Street and saw "Becky Thatcher's home" and "Tom Sawyer's" white washed fence. It was very interesting and I didn't remember visiting there when I was a kid, (even though we did because there is a picture of Kelli, Brad and I in front of Tom Sawyer's fence). We walked down Main Street and by the riverfront and decided that we are going to save Mark Twain's cave and Sawyer's Creek for another day. We ended up driving to a movie theater to see Hancock. It was very good! There were a couple of twists in the movie, but Mike and I both loved it. :) After the movie we stopped at a local pizza place for dinner, made a quick stop at Lover's Leap, and then headed back to the condo. Below is an overload of pictures....beware! :)

Pulling into our place....we got caught in a huge storm.

Driving around the lake to our condo...

The city of Clarksville...after the flooding.

Made our way up to Hannibal... The houses were a wee bit small! :) This was a replica of Huck Finn's house.
